Settled in 1834, and known by several names through the years, including Babcock's Grove and Danby Station, Glen Ellyn was widely known as a resort town for turn-of-the-century Chicago residents looking to escape the city for awhile. Picturesque Lake Ellyn, stately residential architecture, tree-lined streets and charming boutiques and restaurants have given Glen Ellyn a distinctly New England flavor, reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell painting. Despite its convenient access to major highways, Glen Ellyn has an enchanting, small-town feel.
 
Glen Ellyn is also home to The College of DuPage, one of the country's largest and most prestigious community colleges. Included on campus is the McAninch Performing Arts Center ("The Mac"), which hosts hundreds of world-class entertainment programs and cultural experiences each year.
